Hi all,
I have decided to complete a cutover migration to Office365, however am a bit unsure if I need to complete the DirSync configuration before or after the migration.
My current environment consists of an exchange 2003 server with various other servers. What I am hoping to achieve is migrating all mailboxes to Office365 and on completion, users can use their domain credentials to access Exchange online email.
My plan is outlined below:
Implement DirSync on a server within my domain. This will sync all user accounts to my Azure infrastructure. In addition I will enable password synchronisation and "should" be able to login with my AD credentials to office365 once the sync has completed.
2) Once I am happy that all user are visible in Office365, I then begin my cutover migration.
How do I marry up my Office365 accounts to my exchange mailboxes? Is it a case of mail enabling the accounts on Office365, switching MX records to deliver to Office365 servers and then uploading old account data to Office365?
In my mind that sounds logical, but I've worked in I.T long enough to know that its not always that simple!!
Or
Do I perform the cutover migration first, meaning all users will have separate Office365 credentials from Domain credentials, and then install/configure DirSync!
Any help would be appreciated
Andrew
