I am in the middle of a 2003 to 2010 transistion and have setup the legacy URL. The old environment had a two-node Exchange cluster with a single Front-end server. All OWA connections were handled by the FE server, which was configured for forms-based authentication, a default domain and to accept just the username (instead of domain\username).
The legacy URL is configured and the DNS entry for the URL returns the correct address (the 2003 FE Server). To maintain consistency, OWA on the 2010 CAS has been configured identical to the 2003 FE, i.e., a default domain is defined and only the username should be entered. I should also mention that HTTPS redirect has been configured on the CAS tohttps://ex2010.mydomain.com/owa.
If I am logging on as a 2010 user, I connect to ex2010.mydomain.com and am redirected tohttps://ex2010.mydomain.com/owa and see the 2010 OWA FBA screen where is enter just my username (no domain) and password and I logon to my mailbox.
If I am loggin on as 2003 user, I connect to https://legacy.mydomain.com/exchange and see the familiar 2003 FBA screen, enter just my username and password and I logon to my mailbox.
If I am logging on as a 2003 user, I connect to https://ex2010.mydomain.com/owa and see the 2010 FBA screen, enter just my username and password and I am presented with the 2003 FBA screen with an error:
You could not be logged on to Outlook Web Access. Make sure your domain\user name and password are correct, and then try again.
If I am loggin on as a 2003 user, I connect to https://ex2010.mydomain.com/owa and see the 2010 FBA screen, enter my domain and username (mydomain\username) and my password, I logon to my 2003 mailbox without any other authentication prompts.
Can anyone out there think of why the 2003 auth form is not accepting the information from the 2010 auth form when a 2003 user is redirected?
