Hi Folks,

Is it possible to migrate the current witness disk share for Exchange CCR 4 GB from the existing Application server cluster into the stand alone Hub Transport Server without causing downtime to the Exchange Server ?

My current setup is as follows:

Mailbox servers:

  • PRODMBX1.domain.com – Mailbox Production Active Node 1
  • IP: 10.1.7.5
  • AD Site:HQ-CapitalCity-Site-1
  • DRMBX1.domain.com – Mailbox Recovery Passive Node 1
  • IP: 10.1.12.5
  • AD Site:DR-RegionalCity-Site-1

Existing FileShare Witness disk:

  • PRODAppServer1.domain.com – Production Application Server Active Node 1
  • IP: 10.1.7.38
  • AD Site:HQ-CapitalCity-Site-1
  • X:\ drive 4 GB
  • PRODAppServer2.domain.com – Production Application Server Passive Node 1
  • IP: 10.1.7.39
  • AD Site:HQ-CapitalCity-Site-1

into the following (IGMP Multicast) WNLB clusters:

Hub Transport – CAS Servers:

  • PRODHT-CAS1.domain.com – HT-CAS Production Active Node 1
  • IP: 10.1.7.14
  • AD Site: HQ-CapitalCity-Site-1
  • \\FileShare\NewDirectory1
  • PRODHT-CAS2.domain.com – HT-CAS Production Active Node 2
  • IP: 10.1.7.15
  • AD Site: HQ-CapitalCity-Site-1

Do I have to select another cluster database or stand alone server as above is fine ?

I was wondering if the HT-CAS server is rebooted during the Windows Patching, it could potentially cause outage to the Exchange Mailbox CCR ?
