Questions on importing muliple PSTs per user into brand new Personal Archive mailboxes

Users are going to be migrating from PSTs to Personal Archives for the first time and currently have PSTs stored on their local disks and/or on redirected MyDocs folders on the network.  Many users have multiple PSTs connected to their Outlook 2010 profile.

Some users also have redundant backup copies of PST with the same mail items in multiple PSTs and may still have copies of irreparable corrupted PSTs that they did not delete for whatever reason.

The plan is to delete all the PST files from PCs and network shares once they are successfully imported into their personal archive mailbox.

Is there any automated way of importing PSTs that will not crash when it encounters a corrupted PST?

If a use has multiple PSTs and some of the PSTs have duplicate items, will the duplicate email messages and other duplicate items in the PST be excluded from being imported or will they end up with multiple copies of the same email and calendar items in their archive mailbox?

Would it be a good idea to ask users with multiple PSTs to consolidate all of them into one massive single PST before importing into their archive mailbox or is there a better solution?
