Our Exchange environment consists of 2 Exchange 2010 SP2 virtual machines. An onsite mailbox server call mailbox1and an offsite CAS in a data center called CAS1. The mailbox databases are on a SAN onsite.
We have been having various problems with the OS on the mailbox server and we would like to replace it.
What are the nest steps? Should we build a new mailbox server VM called "mailbox2" and just migrate the mailboxes to the new server and then kill the old server or should we build an identical VM with the same name and IP and move to it so there are no apparent changes?
Which is the best plan?
