Current Environment

Exchange 2007 SP1 deployment

Problem

Attempts to install SP2 or SP3 for 2007 fail when you run setup /PrepareAD

Runnning setup /PrepareSchema completes OK

Error Message

Exchange Setup logs the following message in the setup log

[9/10/2010 2:05:02 PM] [1] 0.  ErrorRecord: Active Directory operation failed on DC1.<domain>.ca. The object 'CN=Offline Address Lists,CN=Address Lists Container,CN=<domain>,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=<domain>,DC=ca' already exists.

Steps Done To Resove

I've found previous posts which have identifed issues with the values in the purportSearch attribute for All Contacts, Default Global Address List, etc. however there doesn't appear to an equivalent attribute in for the Offline Address list or it's parent container

Running setup /PrepareAD on either the Exchange server or the DC/GC results in the same error message.

Any thoughts or pointers to track down this problem would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!

Kelly
