Hi All,
I created a new Exchange 2010 organization for a new domain/forest my company is spinning-up. The server was installed with the Exchange 2010 SP3 setup file and had Update Rollup 4 applied.
I started setting things up and decided before moving much further along that I would get rid of the original DB and create a new one. So I created the new one, then I tried and migrate the original System Mailboxes and the Federated Email mailbox, but neither are showing up if I run Get-Mailbox with the -Arbitration switch. Additionally, I cannot simply move them because it states the "object couldn't be found on '<domain controller>'.
As for the potential oddities of this new forest, I have a root domain that is being used simply as a "Place-holder" of sorts, as this business venture will have a presence in multiple countries (the thought being each country will have a sub-domain
under the root).
The first sub-domain is where this Exchange server lives. I have no Exchange servers in the root domain. When I prepped the domain (/PS, /P, and /PAD) and I ran all of the steps from the single DC in the root domain as the built-in administrator
(with Enterprise Admin and Schema Admin rights) and this account has been added to the Organization Administrators group.
Additionally, I was able to successfully migrate the "Microsoft Exchange" and "Discovery Search Mailbox" mailboxes (both accounts exist in the root domain; domain.local/Users) as does the FederatedEmail mailbox and this last phantom SystemMailbox (the two "normal" SystemMailbox objects exist in the sub-domain in the Microsoft Exchange System Objects container, as expected).
Does anyone have any idea what I can do to move or remove these mailboxes? Again, I cannot see them when running Get-Mailbox -Arbitration. I saw some people have resolved this by removing the mailboxes via ADSIedit, but I don't necessarily want to do that if I don't need to. And if I do have to do that, how do I re-create the missing mailboxes/user accounts that I need?
Thanks in advance!
