Exchange 2010 SP3 Rollup Update 5 will not install, Interim Update reported where none exists.

I am trying to install Exchange 2010 SP3 RU5 on a single server. Have done this several times on servers for other clients but this one fails. Exchange Server is at SP3 RU2 level. Have also tried to install RU3 and RU4 and they all fail with the same error. After enabling Installer Logging as per article http://support.microsfot.com/default.aspx?scid=223300 I find this in the log:

Property(C): msgINTERIMUPDATEDETECTED = Unable to install because a previous Interim Update for Exchange Server 2010 has been installed.  Please use Add/Remove Programs to uninstall the Interim Update before running this setup again.
Property(C): ButtonText_Remove = &Remove
Property(C): msgRequiresProc = The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Exchange Server 2010 that you're running. Check your computer to see whether you need an x64 (64-bit) or x86 (32-bit) version of this file.

The log does not appear to list what the offending Interim Update details are.

I checked Add-Remove Programs as per article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff637981.aspx looking for "Interim Updates". The only update shown for Exchange Server is CU2. Nothing is labeled as "interim".

The server has BES Express for Exchange v5.0.3; PowerShell 3.0; DPM 2012 R2 Client. These were all present when RU2 was installed.

I presume I do not have to uninstall RU2, so how do I install RU5, or at least determine the cause of the failure?

TIA, Ray

UPDATE: SOLVED

Sometimes its easy to overlook the obvious. Turns out I was using a new administrative account and forgot to run the .msp installer under an elevated prompt. Sadly that was not clearly stated anywhere, and I only got reminded of it while searching for the Event 1603 that this error generates. Buried in commentary in http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2013/11/25/released-update-rollup-3-for-exchange-2010-service-pack-3.aspx was the answer.

Turn off UAC or run in elevated mode!. Utterly missed it partly because the installer gives a UAC elevation prompt before it fails. should have known anyway - just forgot.
