Exchange 2010 SP3 startdagservermaintenance.ps1 issues

My Environment is as follows:

Production

Server 1 -  CAS, Hub Transport (DAG witness server)

Server 2 -  Mailbox (3 databases - DAG with Server 3) - Currently at SP1

DR Site

Server 3 -  Mailbox, Hub Transport

I have Exchange 2010 SP3 applied to server 1 and 3.  I have not been able to successfully run StartDagServerMaintenance.ps1 on Server 2.  If I am ok with downtime, is there any risk in upgrading my server without running this script?  If so, would I need to power off Server 1 and 3 first?  I believe my issue with the script may be due to a journal mailbox.
