Question: How do I add a secondary Mailbox Server without a DAG configuration? Once Added, does the CAS server have to be configured for Load Balancing? Are there any other considerations to be made?
Most of the discussion's that I have found relate to adding a secondary server to a DAG setup. We don't utilize DAG because we already have High Availability within a 3-Host VMWare vSphere Cluster.
Given my current situation, I have a single Mailbox Server that is experiencing High RPC Operations. There are times where RPC Operations will run at 100% for over 60 seconds. My community of Outlook users are all complaining.
Here is an overview of my environment:
Exchange 2010, SP3 Update Roll-up 7; Running Virtually (VMware) Server 2008 R2, SP1
2 servers - CAS, and MB, no DAG
CAS Server Memory = 32 GB
MB Server Memory = 40 GB
Regarding Memory, I followed this link here to Limit Exchange Memory usage:
http://www.bursky.net/index.php/2012/05/limit-exchange-2010-memory-use/
- My "msExchESEParamCacheSizeMax" =
(16 GB) 524288 KB
- My "msExchESEParamCacheSizeMax" =
(32 GB) 1048576 KB
From a iSCSI SAN perspective, the data volume has an average of 200 IOPS over the last 7 days.
800 Mailboxes, 14 Mailbox Databases. Largest is 421GB, other sizes are 208GB, 118GB, 114GB all others are under 100GB. Archiving is not used.
Thank you.
