Exchange 2013 virtual directories not managable

Hey guys,

a friend of mine got huge issues with his Exchange 2013 environment. So in general the system which is holding two CAS servers, two MBX DB servers and one HLB is running fine. General mail flow is working, OWA is working, as well like EWS, Autodiscover and ActiveSync.

So you can say the virtual directories are working! Unfortunately he is not able to edit the virtual directories. Even a simple "Get-EcpVirtualDirectory -Server Server01" is not possible. The PS hangs doing nothing and the only possibility to stop this process is to kill the PS session. You can open the virtual directory section in the ECP and you can even select one of these and see the information on the general tab. When you click on authentication tab you will see the loading animation. If you check in the background the event logs, you will simply see... nothing.

So you cannot use New, because all directories are there, no remove, no set and no get. EMS and regular powershell have been tried as well as different users with highest privileges and the commands have been executed from all available servers.

The error occured while the system was installed with CU11, in the hope of getting it fixed he installed CU12.

I think this is a basic roundup of the error situation. If someone of you need some more details I'm happy to provide it to you.

Thanks in advance.

regards,

Christian
