MS Exchange 2010 Install "Cannot access registry" error

$

I am attempting to install a fresh, new MS exchange 2010 instance on a MS Server 2008 R2 which is a GoDaddy Virtual Dedicated Server. It is currently failing on the pre-req check.

This is the pre-req error I am getting:

There was a problem accessing the registry on this computer. This may happen if the Remote Registry service is not running. It may also indicate a network problem or that the TCP/IP Netbios Helper service is not running.

I have already contacted GoDaddy and they told me I have full access to do whatever I need and that MS Exchange will work fine on one of their virtual dedicated servers. I am not sure if I believe them or not, but regardless, this is my first Exchange install and I am not sure if it is just me or if there is something else. Is there a series of steps that I can perform to debug this error. I already resolved all the other issues - this is the last one and I cannot figure it out.

I performed the following steps in an attempt to debug the issue.

1. I disabled the firewall on everything and restarted the "Readiness Checks" - same error

2. I disabled IPv6 by unchecking the checkbox "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" under "Local Area Connection Properties" and restarted the "Readiness Checks" - same error

3. The "TCP/IP netbios helper" service is enabled and set to "Automatic"

4. Under "Advanced sharing settings" and then under "Home or Work" (which I assume is the "PRIVATE" network) - I disabled the "File and printer sharing" by clicking the radio button for "Turn off file and printer sharing" and then clicked "Save changes". Then went back in and enabled it by clicking the radio button for "Turn on file and printer sharing" and then clicked "Save changes" and restarted the "Readiness Checks" - same error

5. Under "Advanced sharing settings" and then under "Domain" - "Network Discovery", "File and printer sharing", and "Public folder sharing" are all currently on. The "Computer Browser" service is enabled and set to "Automatic"

This is so frustrating because I am so close.

BTW - I just recognized that I am getting this error for more than just the "Hub Transport Role Prerequisites" - I am getting it for the "Client Access Role Prerequisites" and the "Mailbox Role Prerequisites". Does that change anything?

PLEASE HELP!!

Event ID: 1007 Event Description: Failed to create or start performance logs with error: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80041326): The task is disabled. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80041326)

I have 1200 AD accounts in different domains in the same Forest, which now require full Exchange 2010 mailboxes.  I have these users listed in a CSV - does anyone have a Powershell script that will take the existing AD accounts and bulk enable them with  mailboxes?

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I am running Exchange Server 2007 with SP1 (Update Rollup 7) on Windows Server 2003 R2 x64bit.

I am recieving the following error whilst attempting to update my HUB/CAS server with UR9:

The installer has encountered an unexpected problem installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2771

I have performed a log of the MSI to a txt file which i will include the related components at the end of this post.

Actions  I have taken:
- Performed install with Domain Administrator and Exchange Administrator Credentials
- Restarted Server
- Attempted to install update Rollup 8 (Same error)
- Confirmed correct (x64bit) version of update
- Imported HKLM/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/EXCHANGE/V8.0/ADMIN TOOLS from a working server which had RU7 installed.
- Output verbose log to .txt file

Links i have used:
http://exchangeshare.wordpress.com/2009/05/30/exchange-update-rollup-installation-it-is-not-nightmare/
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesoftwareupdate/thread/82be34fd-2a6e-4ace-9548-d81d59c68cd9
http://www.msxfaq.de/admin/rollup-troubleshoot.pdf

Notes:
- There are no interum updates installed
- I Performed a search for the GUID key (24B2C164-DE66-44FE-B468-A46D9D5E6B31}) provided in the Event ID: 1024 errors and they pointed to Update Rollup 4, And Update Rollup 7. Previously we had upgraded from 4-7

The local DC and all remote DCs are up and accessible. The server is registered in DNS. IPv6 is enabled. The server has only 1 NIC and a static IP. It's a VM on EXS 4.1. There is no AV software installed. The same set of GP settings applies to the production HT/CAS and DR HT/CAS. Windows OS is fully patched. All Exchange prerequisites for Windows 2008 R2 have been installed as per http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb691354.aspx. I'm running the installation under an account which is Domain/Enterprise/Schema admin.

The production Exchange servers run without any issues. There are 30 servers on the DR site (DC/apps/DBs/backup etc) and they all run without any issues.

Any idea?

Thanks

Exchange 2010 SP3, bounce back error

Hi Everyone,

I have one user that is getting an error when internal email is sent to him. It seems that if it is sent from one person to him it works fine. If he is included in a group then this error comes up.

They are using Exchange 2010 SP3, they have been setup and working fine for a while. I had SP2 on it, updated to SP3 because of this error but it still persists. Any help would be appreciated. I was thinking of installing the rollups to see if that would fix it, but would like some feedback if possible before doing this.

Hi Guys,

I try to migrate Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010.

Exchange 2003  has the event called "Microsoft exchange event" , which is throws through the server script, it has the following script:

<SCRIPT RunAt=Server Language=VBScript>

'------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'FILE DESCRIPTION: Exchange Server Event Script
'------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Option Explicit

'------------------------------------------------------------------------------
' Global Variables
'------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'------------------------------------------------------------------------------
' Event Handlers
'------------------------------------------------------------------------------

' DESCRIPTION: This event is fired when a new message is added to the folder
Public Sub Folder_OnMessageCreated

dim amSession
        dim messTarget
        dim idMessage
        dim obj
        dim respuesta

        set amSession = EventDetails.Session
        idMessage = EventDetails.messageID
        Set messTarget = amSession.GetMessage(idMessage, Null )

        Set obj = CreateObject("SIC_CorreoIncidente.Proceso")
        respuesta = obj.ProcesarCorreo(messTarget,amSession,43)

        Set amSession=nothing
        Set messTarget=nothing
        Set obj=nothing

End Sub

' DESCRIPTION: This event is fired when a message in the folder is changed
Public Sub Message_OnChange
End Sub

' DESCRIPTION: This event is fired when a message is deleted from the folder
Public Sub Folder_OnMessageDeleted
End Sub

' DESCRIPTION: This event is fired when the timer on the folder expires
Public Sub Folder_OnTimer
End Sub

</SCRIPT>

In Exchange 2010, I don't find where put this script; don't exist the event called "Microsoft Exchange Event", I saw that exchange 2010 has the web service EWS but I don't know to use that webservice. I have Outlook 2013 as well.

Hi,

I already installed Exch2010 with coexistance with Exch2003.

Outlook client is using Internet Email (pop & smtp) to send and retrieve email.

I already delete the SMTP Outound at Exch2003 ESM.

Most of the Outlook client I have already change the IP address to point to the new Exch 2010. Email can send and out internal & external.

My problem is:

There are some user (7 users) that if I set smtp address of Outlook to new Exch2010 IP address, it keep prompt for username/password

But most of the Outlook client, i set the IP to new Exch2010, seem fine everything.

Why does it happen? any idea?

Hi,

We are transiting organization exchange 2003 sp2 to exchange 2010.

The users open a windows session on the domaineA.rootA.local and they use another account for the email domainB.rootB.local. we are not in the forest resource scenario. the accounts on the forest which contains mailbox are also used to log on others servers and applications.

When moving the mailbox from exchange 2k3 to exchange 2k10, all is ok except for OOF and Busy/Free information on outlook for some computers.

1- Exchange 2k3 users see the Busy/Free information Exchange 2k10 users

2- Exchange 2k10 users see the busy/free Exhange 2k10 users (when i disabled the proxy ie setting then it works).

3- Exchange 2k10 users see the busy/free Exhange 2k3 users (when i disabled the proxy ie setting then it works).

4- OOF doesn't work "server unavailable" and the IIs logs shows that outlook send a request with the wrong account (domaineA.rootA.local) rather than  domainB.rootB.local

Exemple:

The test of autodiscovery works fine, certificat is approuved, the urls are OK, the exclusions in ie proxy is ok.

I follow the http://www.proexchange.be/blogs/exchange2007/archive/2009/07/14/your-out-of-office-settings-cannot-be-displayed-because-the-server-is-currently-unavailable-try-again-later.aspx

I have no problem with webmail. Office standard 2010 32 bits. I tried to disable Windows Authentification for EWS and AUTODISCOVER, it still the same problem.

Then, when i force outlook setting to ask credentials. the user when he starts outlook an authentification windows appears asking credentials, then the oof, busy free information works well. and IIS server logs show that outlook send a request with the correct account domainB.rootB.local.

could you please help me to understand and fix this ?

Thanks

need help please...I no longer use an exchangeserver/account so I checked the "help" file to remove an account...

after reading how to create a pst I removed the exchange account not knowing it would remove all of the folders, emails and contacts from outlook 2007/windows7. Can someone help me restore the ost data?

Thank you,

vss problems after sp3 install

I wanted to repost this here since I haven't seen any MS response in the HA/DR forum. We backup using vss on the passive node CCR cluster. Ever since we installed sp3 we are getting 214 event log errors on the active node and logs are not truncating when taking a full.

This doesn't appear to be related to the backup software in any way as I can reproduce the issue with vshadow and others have reported it with dpm (we are using appassure replay).

Here is the original post.

Backing up from the active node works fine and this is what we are doing until we can find a resolution to the problem. Thanks

Event ID 214 - Exchange Server transaction log is not truncated properly

Problem: Event ID 214 is logged when you run a backup operation on a passive node after you install Exchange Server 2007 SP3 in an Exchange Server 2007 CCR environment

KB Article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2297394

Does that means the backup still considered as successful consistency backup for all of the mailbox database ? eventhough the Transaction log is not truncated to the Mailbox DB?

Assuming I always do Full Backup with VSS enabled backup software, does the database consistency backup still matter with or without circular logging is in use ?
