Release notes for Update Rollup 11 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 3

$

0

Can anyone please assist me in where to find the Release notes for this Roll Up 11 ?

because when I go to the web page: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2873746 it only list two of the fixed issues:

Issues that the update rollup resolves

Update Rollup 11 for Exchange Server 2007 SP3 addresses the vulnerabilities that are described in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS13-061 and resolves the issues that are described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base articles:
  • 2852663 The last public folder database on Exchange 2007 cannot be removed after migrating to Exchange 2013
  • 2688667 W3wp.exe consumes excessive CPU resources on Exchange Client Access servers when users open recurring calendar items in mailboxes by using OWA or EWS

What I need is the caveats or any other things to be aware after implementing this UR 11, not the small fixes above.

Thanks

Public Folders not replicating Exchange 2007 to 2010

$

There are a LOT of variations on this topic, and I've been following all the different threads, with no luck.

We have an Exchange 2007 server (the organization was previously upgraded from 2003, and maybe from 2000 before my time) and now we're putting an Exchange 2010 server in place.

Each of these servers has mailbox, CAS and Hub Transport roles.

The public folders that are on the Exchange 2007 server do not replicate to the Exch 2010 public folder database, and a sample folder I created on the 2010 public folder db does not replicate to the 2007 server.

There is a much-commented-on error in the event log: the Event 1020 MS Exchange Store driver:

The store driver couldn't deliver the public folder replication message "Status Request (PublicFolderDatabase@kcts9.org)" because the following error occurred: The Active Directory user wasn't found..

TechNet says that this is due to an empty CN=Servers container in AD, and that it's a legacy of having upgraded from old exchange servers. (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2487271?wa=wsignin1.0)

However, the CN=Servers container in our AD is *NOT* empty - it contains the two current servers - the Exch 2007 and the new Exch 2010 server.

The document says to 'verify that there are no server objects listed in the servers container' and then you can delete the empty container.

So, it doesn't look like I should be deleting that server container, and I really don't think I should delete the servers from the server folder.

Is there another cause of this error? How do I make it so the public folders replicate? We don't have a lot of them, but a couple of groups rely on shared calendars in public folders. If I could manually MOVE the content from one server, I would, but it doesn't look like that's possible either.

Thanks!

Exchange 2010 SP3 upgrade fails during preparation

I'm trying to upgrade our Exchange 2010 SP1 server to SP3 in preparation of installing a new Exchange 2013 server to take over, which requires SP3 on the 2010 machine to be able to migrate. While all prerequisite checks succeed (1 warning related to an update for failover clustering not being installed, which I'm not using anyway) I then get the following error right away 10 seconds after starting the upgrade:

I'm completely stuck on what is actually failing now, and why. There were domain controllers cleanly removed from the network recently, but they were never relevant - all FSMO roles and GC remained on the srv-003 server and the other ones were cleanly demoted.

I'm logged in as the Domain Administrator. I also tried taking the long route and installing SP2 first, but that fails with the same error.

Anyone have any idea what could be causing this issue?

Exchange 2007 SP3 Failed

$

Hi everyone, I have tried to install Exchange 2007 SP3 last night, this is on SBS 2008.  Hardware is a HP ML110G6 with X3450, 8GB, P212/256 Controller so it's a nice little machine and only runs my small business i.e. one workstation and two user accounts.

During the process I was advised that setup could not find exchangeserver.msi and therefore the installation failed.  I could see the file in the window behind setup!

Now my Exchange is down completely and I need it back up and running ASAP.  If I try and run the upgrade again it gives me the following error:

The Exchange binary files are not installed, but the backup settings registry key is present. Only build-to-build upgrade mode is available. [OK]

Any research shows a similar issue when people were trying to install SP1 so not sure what's relevant.  Any ideas?

Thanks

Exchange/Server 2003

I Have been running exchange/server 2003 for years, but I have recently lost the ability to get my emails on one of my computers (don't know why) and I have purchased a new windows 8 desktop that will not accept my exchange email thru Outlook 2007.

On the new computer I get messages something like "The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."  I also get "mail from this Microsoft Exchange email account is delivered to the existing Personal Folders file on your local computer. If you want to keep a copy of your messages on your server, open the Account Settings dialog box, click the Data Files tab, and change the default file."

I don't understand exactly how to resolve these issues.

If someone can offer me a detailed set of steps to perform, I would appreciate it tremendously.

Thank you

RPC Proxy can't be pinged._ A Web exception occurred because an HTTP 405 - MethodNotAllowed response was received from Unknown.

Hi all,

I downloaded the RPC tools from the microsoft site, exactly the rpcping tool.

on the Command Prompt I wrote:

rpcping -t ncacn_http -s exchangesrv -o RpcProxy=exchangesrv -P"user,domain,password" -I"user,domain,password" -H 2 -u 10

-a connect -F 3 -v 3 -E -R none

and it gave me the result:

RPCPinging proxy server exchangesrv with Echo Request Packet
   Sending ping to server
   Response from server received: 401
Client is not authorized to ping RPC proxy
   Ping failed.

this is the explanation for this Error:

Response from server received: 401
Client is not authorized to ping RPC proxy
You receive this response if the RPC Ping Utility test failed. The PRC Ping Utility test may have failed if HTTP access is denied, if there are incorrect credentials on the –Pswitch, or if the user exits.

In the IIS snap-in, on the Web Site tab, on the TCP port it is 80 and in the SSL port it is 443, and the IP is the IP address of the Exchange Server(it's on one machine with Windows 2003 Server).

Can Someone help me, please. I want to Run the Outlook outside and I think this is the prevention. It is a certificate error or what ??? I have a self signed certificate, which I imported in the Root Certificate Authority

Exchange 2010 Proxy to Exchange 2007 in same AD Site with only 1 URL

I am working on a transition to Exchange 2010 from SBS 2008 and Exchange 2007 SP3.  I have Exchange 2010 installed with CAS, HT, and Mailbox roles up and running.  I'm sending messages across and everything appears to be working from that point.  My problems start with OWA.  I only have 1 external URL and want to setup Exchange 2010 as the CAS server for my network for the mailbox transition.  I'm trying to get Exchange 2010 to proxy connections to mailboxes on teh 2007 server.

My experience is that when trying to log in I get the FBA page for 2010 OWA, and after logging in I get redirected to the Internal URL of my 2007 OWA.  I have followed various articles and posts so that I have copied over the 2007 binaries for OWA, I have removed the external url for OWA in 2007, I have made sure that the OWA virtual directory has only integrated authentication on.

Hopefully I'm missing something easy?

Orphaned .ost file

Anyway to recover an ost file when the original server is gone and the computer with the "orphaned" ost is now joined to a new domain?  Original server was W2K3 SP2 w/ E2K3 SP2.

My thoughts are to setup another "mock" server identical to the original server, rejoin this computer to the old domain and then try to deal with the security mismatch of the ost to the server?

There is enough information to rebuild the server exactly as it was before (including passwords).

Ideas?

Thank You,

Joe

Hello Experts,

I have exchange sever 2007 on windows server 2003 R2.  I have installed exchange server 2007 on windows cluster. My passive not is not taking up the charge, seeding is proper, databases are healthy and FSW is also on placed.

the issue is when I do a failover manually or automatically passive cannot taking up the databases online. I had reinstalled the passive node as well. All tests are successfully passed, heart beat is also fine.

Please suggest what to do.

Mail getting stuck in Outbox

$

I am using Outlook 2007 and exchange server.  When send emails they oftentimes get stuck in the Outbox with a sent date of "None".  If I restart outlook and try resending the messages, they will oftentimes go out.  I am having to restart outlook 5 times a day right now.  Any ideas what would cause emails going out through exchange server to just "get stuck"?  Sometimes when I sent the emails and I watch the Outbox folder, the messages will appear in the outbox with a "sent" date, then after a second or so that "Sent" date will just change to "none" and the email just won't go out.  Any advice on how to troubleshoot or fix?

One other note...some messages just NEVER go out 9regardless of how many times I hit restart outlook and hit send) and I need to rewrite them by creating a new message and sending and that new message.

NOTE: this appears to happen when I'm in a state where I am "Connected to Microsoft Exchange".

Exchange 2007 SP3 schema update

I have a 2007 exchange install i walked into that has SP3 installed with Rollup 11 also installed.  It appears the schema update was never done with the SP3 install... When i try to run the command now (setup.com /prepareshema) i get a quick error, with no info and no log file.  If i just run setup.com, i get a dialog box telling me the installed version doesn't match the setup version which is probably the underlying issue here.

How can i upgrade the schema for SP3 if i'm at SP3 RU11??

Thanks!

Public Folder Migration issues- Exchange 2007 to 2010

This has been a thorn in my side for awhile. but I haven't had a chance to solve it.  We have already installed Exchange 2013 and moved users onto it.  We have several users that have to remain on Exchange 2010 for 3rd party Application reasons.

The issues I am experiencing are:

1)  One Public folder doesn't seem to replicate and therefor can't be fully moved.  Public folder name is Days Off.

2)  If I turn off the Exchange 2007 server, users on both 2010 and 2013 mailboxes can no longer access public folders.

Below are the details for the public folders and also the event shown on the 2010 server when doing an Update content on the Days Off folder.

Update content on Days Off:

Public Folder Migration 2007 to 2010.

Hi,

I have searched through the forums (and Google) and not found anything that works.

I have a Public Folder database on an Exchange 2007 server that I’m trying to move all the replicas to my Exchange 2010 PF database. I have done the following:

  1. Added the 2010 PF database to the replicas of the folders on the 2007 database and waited several days for it to replicate. I have 7 PF’s that will not completely replicate everything.
  2. Run the MoveAllReplicas.ps1 (This removed the 2007 server as a replica on the folders and left only the 2010 server.)
  3. When I run a Get-PublicFolderStatistics on the 2007 server I still see 7 PF’s that I cannot seem to get to move/replicate to 2010.
  4. I have tried adding them (2007) back as a replica and “Update Content” but it’s not completely syncing.
  5. I have turned up the logging and all I can find is the below. (I do not have a folder called 1-2754C9AEF1C.)

Error 0x8004010f occurred while generating an outgoing replication message.

Type: 0x4

Folder: (1-2754C9AEF1C)

Database "PFdatabase".

I’m looking for an article that will help me figure out and fix this. If it’s a corrupt message/items (most of the 7 PF’s are calendars), then I’m looking for an article on how to find the specific items and remove it.

If I cannot find and fix the item causing the issue then I would like to understand how to delete the 7 PF’s on 2007 without deleting what has replicated to 2010.

Any help would be appreciated.

Exchange 2010 - Decommissioning Exchange 2007 Coexistence and Removal of Public Folders

$

We are about to decommission exchange 2007, currently in coexistence with Exchange 2010.

We do not want to use ANY public folders in exchange 2010 going forward. Will do this after decom of 2007:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd876883(v=exchg.141).aspx

I see this in the outlook connection status in outlook:

I have changed all Exchange 2010 mailbox databases to use a temporary 2010 public folders db named "public1" so that it is not communicating with the 2007 mailbox virtual server. However, the exact same connection status appears after I changed the 2010 mailbox DBs to use a 2010 public folder db instead of the old 2007.

Question is, is it safe to decom the 2007 environment now? Is it normal to still have a connection to 2007  in "connection status" in outlook when the users mailbox is on a 2010 mailbox db? Is this connection related to public folders or something else that needs modified before decom?

Thanks,

Josh

Target Forest Mail Users

$

This is a continuation of a previous posting about setting up cross-forest mailbox moves. I have my lab all set up and this is what happens (I have recreated what the customer site already has. Source Forest Exchange 2007 SP2.Target Forest Exchange 2010 SP2). The user accounts have already been created in the Target forest and are being used for day-to-day login and security, but of course they have no Exchange attributes. The Source Forest has all of the mailboxes. They are using a Shared SMTP namespace across the Forests.

When I run .\Prepare-MoveRequest.ps1 -Identity test4@company.com -RemoteForestDomainController DC01.company.local -RemoteForestCredential $RemoteCredentials -LocalForestDomainController DC02.company.com -LocalForestCredential $LocalCredentials -TargetMailUserOU IT -UseLocalObject

This creates another user object with what appears to be a random ID after it. For example, if the user is Test4, it created test41392159452 instead of just updating the current user, test4. How do I mail-enable all of the current users in the Target forest?
