Moved Public Folders - 4 System Folders wont Remove

$

0

I have moved Public Folders from one Exchange 2007 Server to another Exchange 2007 Server using the ./movereplicas script.  All Folders have replicated ok, but on the old server which I want to decomission I am unable to remove the public folder DB because it says not all folders have replicated.

If I run Get-publicfolderstatistics on both servers I am left with 4 system folders on the old server.  These seem to have replicated across to the new server ok - the item count is higher on the new server.

I have tried running the script again, but these 4 folders never get removed.  The folders are OAB, Store Events which have an item count of 0 on both serversthese two are higher on the new Public Folder DB.

Hope someone can advise

Thanks

Exchange 2013 Install Issues

$

Hi everyone -

I'm having BIG issues with my Exchange setup.  First off, I walked into a nightmare of a situation here and it seems everything is completely jacked up in terms of network and servers...  I'm actually contemplating starting over 100% with everything, but when I bring that up to upper management, they say it's not feasible.

We currently have Exchange 2007 SP3 with RU11.  I found out that when SP3 was installed, whoever did it never updated AD or the schema.  Now I can't do that because i'm on RU11 and it's giving me a version mismatch error.  So I've decided to move on to just upgrade to Exchange 2013.

I am on the beginning steps of doing this and I just ran:  setup /PrepareAD /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms.  When doing this I get the following nasty little error:

Welcome to Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Unattended Setup
Copying Files...
File copy complete. Setup will now collect additional information needed for installation.

Performing Microsoft Exchange Server Prerequisite Check

    Prerequisite Analysis                                                                             FAILED
Setup will prepare the organization for Exchange 2013 by using 'Setup /PrepareAD'. No Exchange 2010 server roles have b
een detected in this topology. After this operation, you will not be able to install any Exchange 2010 servers.

Cannot find the Recipient Update Service responsible for domain 'DC=kuder,DC=local'. New and existing users may not be
properly Exchange-enabled.

One or more servers in the existing organization are running Exchange 2000 Server or Exchange Server 2003. Installa
tion can't proceed until all Exchange 2000 or Exchange 2003 servers are removed.

The Exchange Server setup operation didn't complete. More details can be found in ExchangeSetup.log located in the
<SystemDrive>:\ExchangeSetupLogs folder.

A couple of notes about this error:

1. I swear I've gotten some errors about the Recipient Update Service with Exchange 2007.  I'm think that might have lead me to the schema upgrade issue I talked about earlier.

2.  We DO NOT have Exchange 2000 or 2003 in our environment!!!  Not sure where to even begin to remove the remnants of this!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hello.

We setup an Exchange 2007 in a 2003 x64 Server. We want to configure the autodiscover feature (we already enabled Outlook Anywhere and RPC/HTTP). What else do we need to do in our DNS or IIS?

Thanks

autodiscovery from external Exchange 2007 SP1

Dear all,

We have 1 Exchange 2007 and 1 CAS server running and a Terminal Server. All Outlook 2007 clients are connecting using HTTPS/RPC internally and external. Now our problem is that when we try to configure an outlook client 2007 from the outside, that the "Online Search for your server settings" fails. We constantly get the credentials (u/p) prompt which is provided the correct credentials but are not accepted.

From inside (for example on the Terminal Server) everything works fine (incl. OAB, OOF, etc). So this should be something with login to autodiscover.

Conclusion:
When we try to connect to: https://externaladdress.domain.net/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml (from the CAS server) we can logon with every valid credential. Now when we try to connect to the above mentioned address from ANY other internal server, or external address, we are not able to login and are constantly prompted with the UserName and Password window.

Does anybody have a clue what's wrong here?

Regards,
David.

Unable to uninstall exchange 2007

I am trying to uninstall a Exchange 2007 server that is in the same forest as a Exchange 2003 server. I'm getting the following error:
-------------------

Error:
Uninstall cannot proceed. Database 'Public Folder Database': The public folder database specified contains folder replicas. Before deleting the public folder database, remove the folders or move the replicas to another public folder database.

RPC Proxy can't be pinged._ A Web exception occurred because an HTTP 405 - MethodNotAllowed response was received from Unknown.

Hi all,

I downloaded the RPC tools from the microsoft site, exactly the rpcping tool.

on the Command Prompt I wrote:

rpcping -t ncacn_http -s exchangesrv -o RpcProxy=exchangesrv -P"user,domain,password" -I"user,domain,password" -H 2 -u 10

-a connect -F 3 -v 3 -E -R none

and it gave me the result:

RPCPinging proxy server exchangesrv with Echo Request Packet
   Sending ping to server
   Response from server received: 401
Client is not authorized to ping RPC proxy
   Ping failed.

this is the explanation for this Error:

Response from server received: 401
Client is not authorized to ping RPC proxy
You receive this response if the RPC Ping Utility test failed. The PRC Ping Utility test may have failed if HTTP access is denied, if there are incorrect credentials on the –Pswitch, or if the user exits.

In the IIS snap-in, on the Web Site tab, on the TCP port it is 80 and in the SSL port it is 443, and the IP is the IP address of the Exchange Server(it's on one machine with Windows 2003 Server).

Can Someone help me, please. I want to Run the Outlook outside and I think this is the prevention. It is a certificate error or what ??? I have a self signed certificate, which I imported in the Root Certificate Authority

Send email problem using Exch 2010

Hi,

I already installed Exch2010 with coexistance with Exch2003.

Outlook client is using Internet Email (pop & smtp) to send and retrieve email.

I already delete the SMTP Outound at Exch2003 ESM.

Most of the Outlook client I have already change the IP address to point to the new Exch 2010. Email can send and out internal & external.

My problem is:

There are some user (7 users) that if I set smtp address of Outlook to new Exch2010 IP address, it keep prompt for username/password

But most of the Outlook client, i set the IP to new Exch2010, seem fine everything.

Why does it happen? any idea?

testing RPC over HTTP

Exchange 2003 / Windows 2003

Trying to get RPC over HTTP/s working so we can migrate to Office 365.   Some things seems to work and some not -- which is confusing.

rpcping using basic authentication works from the server, but not from my workstation.  I setup Outlook to use RPC over HTTP on my workstation and that works.  This is what I get if I try RPCPING from my workstation:

 RPCPing set Activity ID:  {3b8b40ce-1e72-4aa5-a0ba-b6785fec4db8}
RPCPinging proxy server mail.fbcm.org with Echo Request Packet
 Setting autologon policy to high
 WinHttpSetCredentials for target server called
Error 87 : The parameter is incorrect.
 returned in WinHttpSetCredentials
 Ping failed

testconnectivity.com works if I use the Netbios name for the Exchange server, but not if I use the FQDN.  Not sure if it should work for FQDN.  This is is the error when I get when I use the FQDN:

Attempting to ping RPC endpoint 6001 (Exchange Information Store) on server mail.fbcm.org.

The RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE error (0x6ba) was thrown by the RPC Runtime process.
Elapsed Time: 21842 ms.

I have researched the errors but can't find any articles that exactly match what I am experiencing.  Any suggestions appreciated!

E2010 Public Folder Store on Exchange 2003...

$

Gents;

I have added my first Exchange 2010 Public folder to the Exchange 2003-Exchange 2010 setup.  I used the '.\AddReplicaToPFRecursive.ps1 ' script to add it. Toady my users on Exchange 2003 are having trouble seeing new items on those public folders, while the ones in 2010 can see them fine.  I know I have a replication issue or at least a timing one.

My question is, can I point my Exchange 2003 mailbox servers to my Exchange 2010 public folders?

Thanks.

Can you import an .OST file

$

Cached files are local in our hosted environment. I want to migrate mailboxes to a new internal server by importing the .ost files. But that does not work with the GUI import in Outlook 2003 client. Says this is not a .pst file. Tough luck.

Any reason to think that exmerge or something else would be able to import the .ost file.

Saves me time from creating backup .pst files.

thanks

If first mail server has 100 user databases new one also should have 100. Both servers should be equal. Can I do it? Kindly send me steps. And send me how to copy first server email databases to second server. If recieved an email named as 1, will it come both servers? Both servers should be sync, If I add 1 user to first server it should show in second. Please help to solve this issue.

How To Sync Our Gmail Account To Microsoft Exchange?

$

Hi all!

My question is how can I make it possible to use our current Gmail account (including our domain name) and have all of our emails and folders show up in Microsoft Exchange Online...?

I purchased the online (plan 2, $8.00 monthly) subscription to try to save our business emails from being deleted and have our emails work through this exchange so it works better with the Outlook program. Outlook and Gmail do not work well together and we have been having many problems so we are trying to forward our messages through Gmail then the Exchange and finally go through Outlook because we want to keep our domain name we have through Gmail the same while getting the benefits of the Exchange.

Can someone let me know a step-by-step process to set this up? I don't even know how to link/forward our Gmail account to the exchange...!

Thank you and have a great New Year :)

Windows XP Service Pack 3 Problem? - Windows update does not work anymore

Windows update stops working after loading SP3 (Windows XP Service Pack 3)

Just reloaded a pc that had Wiindows xp on it. Did a clean install using XP Pro SP2.

All drivers, chipset, bios loaded usiing latest version available.

Working just fine.

Went to windows update to begin that process, SP3 is listed as a stand alone install so I figured what the heck lets do it.

SP3 loaded without a hitch, reboot required.

Went back into windows updates, more were there, tried to install them.

They download ok, but the installation fails.

Tried them one at a time - still fails.

Downloaded them manually from Microsoft site, installed them manually no problem.

Rebooted and went back into windows update, the same updates that I just installed manually are still listed and yes, they still failed to install using windows update.

Uninstalled SP3, and everything works fine now.

Talked with a tech friend and he told me that he has the exact same problem. I told him to just uninstall SP3.

He did and is system is fine now also.

Is windows update no longer an option if we load SP3, or is this one of those features(Bugs).

Error 1603 when installing Rollup 4 for Exchange 2010 SP2

$

Hi There,

I have began upgrading our Exchange servers to Rollup 4 for Exchange 2010 SP2 last week and the first 3 servers all successfully installed it without any problems.  However I have hit a problem with my 4th server.

I am receiving the 'common' error 1603 in my Application log and I have already ran through many potential fixes to this problem on various posts on this and other forums, but to no avail.

I have tried the following without success:

  • Turning off UAC
  • Running from elevated CMD prompt
  • Running from elevated Powershell command
  • Removing and re-adding "Exchange Trusted Subsystem" from the Administrators group
  • Re-downloading the RU4 install package to the local disk on the server
  • Adding more RAM and CPU resources

I have watched the installation process and it seems to update of the native assembly files and comes to the "Starting Services" process, with which it appears to do fine as I have watched the Services starting within Server Manager while this has been running, but then all of a sudden just begins "Rolling back actions".

The only difference with this server to the others is the fact that a colleague of mine had to recover this server within the last 6 months and ran the Setup /m:RecoverServer command to do so, could this have anything to do with it?

I have installed Exchange 2010 Service Pack 2 on this server since the recovery though.

I am running out of ideas so any help would be greatly appreciated.
