Exchange 2010 SP1 install fails with -1603 error

I am getting a -1603 error when installing Exchange 2010 SP1.  Installation fails when copying files/removing old version with the following error:

Does anyone know how to resolve this?

Migrating Exchange 2010 to new hardware - Can't move mailboxes - Access Denied

I have installed Exchange 2010 on new machine, configured connectors, installed certificate, and tested without issue.

When I try to move a mailbox from old exchange server to new exchange server, I get the following error:

I get similar errors when trying to view certificate on other server (old to new or new to old).

When I run: Get-ClientAccessServer | Test-MRSHealth - it retrieves local server info fine, but I get an access denied error trying to retrieve from old server.

I have searched and tried everything I could find to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update Rollup 6/7 for Exchange Server 2010 SP2

Our config :
Version 14.2 (Build 247.5)

2 Mailbox servers (DAG),  2 CAS/HUB Servers using a NLB,  2 edge

my question is the following:
can i go directly to rullp 7 without installing  2,4, 5, 6 or I have to install all rollup ?
and what's the bests  practices for installing rollup ?

Can't Configure CAS; "Web object 'Exchange' already exists."

Hi all,

In an effort to better utilize my Exchange 2010 infrastructure I went to install the Hub and CAS roles on a mailbox server today and the installation went okay, but I received an error in the setup stating the following:

          new-OwaVirtualDirectory -DomainController $RoleDomainController -InternalUrl $InternalOwaUrl;" was run: "Web object 'Exchange' already exists.".

I searched this and didn't find much on the Internet, but I did find the suggestion to remove/recreate the Virtual Directories.  This makes sense as if I look at the "Client Access" tab under "Server Configuration" all of the tabs (OWA, ECP, etc) are all blank. 

I went to try and create a new OWA website but I received the same error: "Web object 'Exchange' already exists."

What can I do to resolve this? 

Additionally, I am running Exchange 2010 SP2 (can't move to SP3 yet) with Update 5 v2 (installing the newest update next weekend).

Exchange 2003/2010 Co-Existence - Distribution Group Management

We're running both exchange 2010 and Exchange 2003.  I have an issue where some distribution groups were upgraded to Exchange 2010 (v14.0.100) and the manager of those lists who are on Exchange 2003 can no longer modify members, they get the error:

"Changes to the distribution list membership cannot be saved.  You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on this object".

We've already implemented the myDistributionGroupsManagement role with success to allow Exchange 2010 users to manage their own list without allowing them to create new ones.

Trying to apply the "Default Role Policy Assignement" to the exchange 2003 users returns an error.  Is there any way Exchange 2003 users can manage Exchange 2010 Distribution list they owned without being upgraded to Exchange 2010?  If not, is there any way to downgrade distribution group to Exchange 2003 once they've been upgraded?

Uknown Error message interface

Hello.

I have two account email. One for gmail (I use google apps for outlook) and another with exchange server for see public folder.

When  I send mail I have this error  "Uknown Error message interface" . When  I remove the exchange server account I don't have this error.

Can You help me?

Resource Forest collapse and upgrade

Current situation:

Forest A - accounts forest

Forest B (resource forest) - E2K3 with  linked accounts and mailboxes.

Requirement:

Need to move Exchange back into Forest A and upgrade to E2K10.  Resource forest will remain for now for other services.

Has anyone gone through this process or has any tips please?

Initial thoughts are:

1) Introduce E2K10 in resource forest

2) install E2K10 in accounts forest

3) install FIM for account galsync during coexistence

4) Move mbxs, public folders to new E2K10 in accounts forest.

I would appreciate your thoughts.

when I open up PFMC I tried to click on Update Public Folder Hierarchy, but instead of working it give me error like this:

Exchange 2007 SP3 Rollup 2 installed - OWA stopped working!

After running this update on our Exchange server, everything seemed fine. Then a few days later, someone said they can't access /owa.  At first I wasn't able to recreate the problem in IE8 but on other browsers I was getting the 403 access denied error. Then playing around with the HTTP redirects I was able to get the same error. Now i can't get OWA working at all. I have this article settings which worked beforehttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998359(EXCHG.80).aspx . Now no go. Also, can't get to owa from IIS 7 directly anymore. My domain admin credentials don't take so not sure if the virtual directory is missing somehow or what's causing this. Also, my iPhone still receiving email so not sure why owa isn't working.

New Local Move Request - Error: MapiExceptionLogonFailed: Unable to make connection to the server.

I am in the process of doing a migration from SBS 2003 std. edition to SBS 2011 std. I am at the point the migrating mailboxes from the Exch 03 server to the Exch 2010 server.  I initially received an error when selecting mailboxes that the mailbox db on the Exch03 server did not exist.  I followed the resolution steps from another forum post to add the Exch 2010 server to the "first administrative group" via the security tab and give full permissions.  This solved that issue and I was able to proceed through the wizard to actually create the local move request.  However, after processing the request, I get the following error...

I have tested running the command from the EMS and get the following...

--Tested the Exch2010 mailbox db store is functioning properly by creating a test account and verifying w/ OWA.
--Verified routing group b/w servers
--verified network connectivity b/w servers
--Verified DNS is functioning properly on both servers
--Installed Exchange Server MAPI Client and CDO 1.2.1 on Exch2010 server.
--Tested rebooting both severs

I am at a loss.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.  I am unable to continue w/ the migration until I get past this step.

Exchange 2003 to 2010 Migration Mailbox Migration "Object not found"

I am introducing an Exchange 2010 Server to a single server Exchange 2003 organization. I have HT, CAS and MB roles installed already on 2010 w/ SP1. Prepped the Schema, AD, Domain and LegacyExchangePermissions by using the setup.com of the SP1 installation files.

Right now, when I try to initiate a New Local Move Request on 2010 EMC for a mailbox on Exchange 2003, I get an error for all the users saying "Object not found" with a white X in a red circle. I'm not sure what to do at this point to get Exchange 2010 recognize the 2003 mailboxes. Any ideas?

Outlook clients still make Public Folder connection to legacy PF (2003) database

Hi Folks,

We are in the process of decommissioning our legacy Exchange 2003 environment. Environment is basically as follows:

Site A (domain 1)

  • First Exchange 2003 server (server A)
  • Exchange 2010 DAG

Site B (domain 2)

  • Second Exchange 2003 Server (server b)
  • Exchange 2010 DAg (Diff DAG from above)

We have migrated all mailboxes and upgraded DLs, Address lists etc. We need to move the PF hierarchy which is hosted on server A to a 2010 mbx server in site A.  We have added PF replicas to 2010 all servers. we need to remove the PF replicas from legacy server in Site B before we move the hierarchy.

Users whose mailboxes is on 2010 in site B should make PF connections for content there. Instead what we are seeing is Outlook clients still making a PF connection to legacy 2003 server (Server b). our fix is to recreate the user Outlook profile or disable and re-enable cached mode. This isn't something we can do company wide with 300+ clients.

I confirmed that the 2010 DBs have the respective 2010 PF DBs configured.

Our thoughts are that if we remove the replicas from server b, the clients should make PF connections to 2010 server in site B. But need to be sure this will happen. We would like to test this theory by dismounting the PF store on server b.

We have opened a ticket with MS and they are giving this lame excuse that since Exchange 2003 is virtualized on VMWare they cannot support it... really MS... you're gonna play that card?!

Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Setting Up Exchange 2010 for Incoming Mail

A little new to the whole Exchange realm and have a question:

I currently have a POP3 connector Im using with Exchange 2010 to pull down emails from an ISP into mailboxes.  How do I configure Exchange to take the emails directly and cut out the middle man?  I know the MX record would have to be changed at the ISP, but I dont know how to configure Exchange.

Schema Upgrade issue on cross forest migration

Hi,

We are moving from:

users in account forest & Exchange 2003 in resource forest

TO

users and Exchange 2010 in account forest

So at the moment the account forest has Exchange 2003 schema with an organization of xyz.com

BUT I will need to upgrade the schema for Exchange 2010 with a different org name.

Have I got this completely wrong or can you assist at all.

Exchange 2007 SP1 Setup Hangs Configuring Performance Counters

Hi

I'm installing Ex2007 SP1 on brand new machines (quadcore with 4Gb RAM). I have a single domain, 2 DC, 1 Ex2007 HT+CA, 2 Ex2007 MB cluster.

All machines are x64 with w2003R2 SP2, NetFx20 SP1.

When installing the first exchange server (HT+CA, or just HT, or just CA, I tried all), all tests are ok but setup hangs at "configuring performance counters" step.

Checking the setup log I can see it's taking about 6 hours to configure each performance counters set and it finalizes each section with "system out of memory" error.

After the install begins, if I go to control panel-performance and I try to configure any counter, the perfmon tool also hangs.

I uninstalled everything, rebuilt the perf counters, but the problem maintains.

Did anybody had this problem or has a clue how to solve it?

Exchange 2007 Size Database Mailbox Log

Hi,

I would like some help here.

I have to disable the circular log on my exchange 2007 environment (I have an application called double take that only works with CL disable.). 

The problem is that I have no ideia how to calculate the size of each database´s log without circular log.

Do you know any article talking about it ? Or just say here how to calcule it.

Cannot uninstall Exchange 2007

When I try to uninstall Exchange 2007 I get the following error under the Mailbox Role.

The virtual directory 'ExchWeb' already exists under 'server.domain.com/Default Web Site' Parameter Name: VirtualDirectoryName.

I actually tried removing the ExchWeb virtual directory on the Exchange 07 server but that didn't help. I haven't been able to find anything else on the internet regarding this issue.
