I have installed and configured PST Capture Service according to every recipee available. My user is domain admin and local admin, I've set up Outlook 2010 x64 with a profile that is in Organization Management.

I have my pst files ready on the same server that is running PST Capture service.

This is from the log :

Powershell command to move mail by a range of dates into another mailbox? Not into .PST...

Hello,

I am attempting to move all of my companies 2009 Journal mail from our current Journal mailbox into a new mailbox that will be archived to tape backup.  I know there is a command that will allow me to move mail into a .pst file but since I am dealing with a lot of data maybe 100GB I would like to go directly from one mailbox to another.  I am using Server 2008 R2 and Exchange 2010 SP1, any help is appriceated...

Can not uninstall Exchange 2007 64 bit. -

$

I am in a bit of a pickle here and hope that someone has some suggestions. Recently, 6 months ago we upgraded to server 2012 and Exchange 2013 64 bit.  Everything has been moved from the 2003 server / 2007 exchange environment and seems to be running correctly.   To be honest the 2003 server was cut off for a few weeks just to make sure that everything was completely moved over to the 2012/2013 environment.  Good news here is it all works except for Exchange 2013 fussing about not being able to see the 2007 exchange server.

Goal:   Completely remove Exchange from this server followed by removing the server from AD.   It is 7 years old and I want tocut it off forever.

Problem:   Exchange will not uninstall.   Per paid support call to Microsoft I was told if I wanted to completely and properly remove all instances of this server from my Exchange environment and AD environment I must use the add/remove programs method to do so.   Unfortunately this process fails as well as several other items on this server.

Environment / Work done so far:    The 2003 server running 2007 Exchange was also an AD server.  Yes I know it’s a non-supported environment, but it’s what I was handed and it seemed to work for years.  I have checked and this server is not running any FSMO roles anymore.   When I try to remove the application Exchange, through add/remove programs, I get a little gray box that comes up and says… “Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Setup Initializing”.  After about 3 or 4 seconds the box disappears and nothing further happens.  The same thing happens when I try to “Change” the application.

Other things of interest:

  • The Exchange Management Console will not load either. The error message is:CLSID:FX:(76dd58f7-54ba-42e3-a2e0-dbfb674539f)
  • The Exchange Management Shell will not seem to execute any commands either.I get several messages, but most have the following:“The type initializer for ‘InstanceContext’ threw an exception.
  • I downloaded service pack 3 and tried to install, but that failed as well.
  • The follwoing Exchange related services will not run.
  1. Microsoft Exchange EdgeSync
  2. Microsoft Exchange IMAP$
  3. Microsoft Exchange Mail Submission
  4. Microsoft Exchange POP3
  5. Microsoft Exchange Replication Service
  6. Microsoft Exchange Search Indexer
  7. Microsoft Exchange Service Host
  8. Microsoft Exchange Transport

Any suggestions / help would be greatly appreciated.

Internal Mail Not Being Delivered - Exchange 2010

I have an issue where internal mail isn't being delivered to any recipient. Relaying is working properly from within the environment but I'm not receiving emails I am sending to myself as a test. Emails from the outside are being delivered properly. I send the message from Outlook to myself, they show in my sent items folder but are not being delivered.

The environment consists of two Exchange 2010 servers, one as Transport, the other Mailbox.

I have checked protocol logging and the messages are not showing there,  nor are they showing in the message tracking web interface. I have also run BPA and am not getting any errors that appear to be causing the issue (old NIC drivers, lack of storage limits, etc.) I get a port 25 telnet response on the Transport server, I have rebooted several times, I have restarted the Transport service. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

User cross-forest migration and Exchange 2010

$

Hello to all. I'm involved on a cross-forest migration. The source forest has a root domain root.source.com with hundres of users, workstations and servers. Exchange 2010 is the current mail messaging system and it's already placed and working on target forest, on domain services.target.com, that is a child domain on target forest. For this to work there is a plceholder user account on services.target.com domain, that holds its mailbox, for each source user account on root.source.com .

The goal is to migrate source AD users (groups and computers) to target forest on a different domain, let's say account.target.domain . How this could be accomplished considering that user already have its placeholder account for exchange on services.target.com and will have another one (the real account, that it wil use to logon) after ADMT migration on account.target.domain? Should I disonnect mailboxes and reconnect to just migrate users' account on domain account.target.domain on "migration time"?

   Suggestions wil be appreciated.

   Regards, EEOC.

Exchange BPA Errors (Exchange server is a virtual machine but the additional tools are not installed and The 'Services' string type value located in 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ExchangeServer\v14\Setup\Services' registry key is missing)

Hi,

I am running BPA on My Exchange 2010 VM (Server 2008 R2 VM on Hyper-V) and get the following errors:

The 'Services' string type value located in 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ExchangeServer\v14\Setup\Services' registry key is missing or inaccessible. The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service won't start. As a result, all services that depend on this service won't be able to start

Exchange server [Exchange Server FQDN] is a virtual machine but the additional tools are not installed. This configuration is not supported. Install Virtual Machine Additions for this guest.

Problem is that, for the first, that Key exists and the service is actually running fine. And for the second my VM tools are already installed.

Hopefully someone out there has had the same issue and can assist.

Cannot Delete Item in Outlook

Hi,

I'm having a very strange problem with one user.  He is using Outlook 2010 and we're running Exchange 2010 SP2.  I'm not sure how long this problem has been happening but it is only happening for this user (as far as I can tell).  When this user recalls a message and selects the option to be notified, he will get "Message Recall Success" or "Message Recall Failure" messages.  The problem is that he cannot delete these "Message Recall" messages.  He can delete any other message, just not these.  If I open his mailbox as an additional mailbox then I can delete those messages.  If I open his mailbox as the primary mailbox then I cannot delete those messages either.  In all cases, we get the error,"Some itmes cannot be deleted.  They were either moved or already deleted, or access was denied".  This happens in both Outlook and OWA.  Here is where it gets weird, if you move the "recall status" messages to a different folder, they can be deleted fine.  If you shift-delete, the messages delete fine.  I've tried moving the mailbox to a different database (moved with no errors) but the problem persists.  I've cleared out his deleted items and emptied the dumpster but still the problem persists.  We have a workaround but, still, I'd like to know why this is happening and what I can do to fix this.

Thanks,
Torben

Rollup Update install error - error code 2771

$

When trying to install the rollup update 7 on a hub/cas server, I get the following error almost immediately:
"The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package,.  This may indicate a problem with this package.  The error code is 2771."
I get the same thing when installing from a downloaded install (that I've used on other servers) or via windows update.

I also get two errors in the event log:
1. MSIinstaller - event id 10005 - same as above but adds "The arguments are: AdminTools" at the end.
2. MSIinstaller - event id 1023 - "... could not be installed.   Error code 1603.  Additional info is available..."  (no add'l info is in the log file referenced)

I had a similar, if not exact, problem trying to install rollup update 6 and couldn't find any info then...  or now.   Saw one post about disabling symantec endpoint protection (which we don't use) but I tried closing our trend a/v but no diff.

Oh yeah, the server is Win2k3 R2 x64 SP2.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Frank

Orphaned .ost file

Anyway to recover an ost file when the original server is gone and the computer with the "orphaned" ost is now joined to a new domain?  Original server was W2K3 SP2 w/ E2K3 SP2.

My thoughts are to setup another "mock" server identical to the original server, rejoin this computer to the old domain and then try to deal with the security mismatch of the ost to the server?

There is enough information to rebuild the server exactly as it was before (including passwords).

Ideas?

Thank You,

Joe

Exporting Mailbox Copy by OU Error

$

I'm using the Exchange Management Shell for Exchange 2010 and I need to export a copy of mailboxes for users in a certain OU. I have a .ps1 script to run this from but when I run the script only some of the mailboxes copy and others fail. The error I get for the user(s) mailboxes that fail state,

Unable to open PST file '\\(servername)\(share$)\(destination_folder)\(filename).pst' . Error details: Data read at file offset 0 is 0 bytes. It should have been 576 bytes

+CategoryInfo: NotSpecified: (0:Int32) [New-MailboxExportRequest], RemotepermanentException

+FullyWualifiedErrorID : (the number is different for each failure notice),Microsoft.Exchange.Management.RecipientTasks.NewMailboxExportRequest

Like I said some of the mailboxes copy but others give that error message. Any idea what could be the cause? Let me know if you need any more information and thanks in advance.

Outlook auto config on VMware Terminal Server

On our workstations, when a user opens Outlook for the first time, it auto-configures beautifully. The users basically just click Next, it asks them if they want to configure Outlook, it automatically fills out their email address and name... Just as I would expect.

However, when it comes to the Terminal Server, I get this:

It says "Connecting to username@domain.com" and the username Outlook automatically enters is 'username@domain.com' but it will not take their correct password.

This can be resolved by having the users manually change the username entered by Outlook to either 'domain\username' or 'username@domain.local'. Everything connects just fine. However, I would prefer to keep things as simple as possible for new employees.

The biggest concern is the fact that I know that it worked before we migrated the terminal server from Hyper-V to VMware. I am unable to definitively say that it happened due to the migration. However, that is the only significant change in the environment. My suspicion is that it may be due to the fact that they are on different virtual environments.

A few details about our environment:
- We do have a .local domain
- The configuration works perfectly fine with all of the workstations in the environment. No need to manually edit the username.
- The Terminal Server is on VMware
- The Exchange Server is still on Hyper-V
- Server 2008 R2, Exchange Server 2010 SP3
- We have a plan in place to move the Exchange server to VMware. However, if this is a VMware issue, I would like to get it resolved now. It would also nice to have it work in the meantime due to the fact that we have several new employees that will be starting before the project is complete.

Disabled users still in address book

We are running Exchange 2000 on a Windows 2003 / AD platform. Disabled users are still appearing in the Outlook 2003 address book. Shouldn't they be automatically hidden? Users are accessing these addresses and creating emails, but of course can't get to the users.
Firstly, how do I make a list of all users that were disable but are still in the address list. Secondly, what's the best method to hide them (without having to access each one separately) ?
Thanks.

Dear Support,

i'm facing a problem with outlook 2013.

my exchange server is 2010 and i have lots of clients using MS Office 2007,2010 and 2013.

from Outlook 2010 and 2007 i can not open a calendar of any other user without their permission with sharing.

But recently i installed Outlook 2013 for 3 client machine and from that i can see the calendar of any other user and they were not shared the calendar.

i can see the free/busy time as its permission came as default.

but from 2010 and 2007 its not possible and asking for permission as normal.

i got confirmation as its the feature of outlook 2013.

Now my problem is only one user can see another user calendar complete details(subject, location etc)which is not at all shared.i have added my account in same OU where that same user  is sitting in the Active directory OU also.but i can not see the complete details, can see only free busy.

please help me how i can find out this permission from Exchange?

i want to know how only one user can see all the calendar data and can not see from a Administrator account?

Thank you,

Najim.
