Exchange 2003 Migration Point
Hi.
I'm attempting to set up a single Exchange 2003 server that is a member of the
domain as a migration point. I went through the steps in the
documentation. However, I'm stuck with errors in the ERCA. The

Issue with OOF and Busy Free information for mailbox credentials differents from user Windows credentials
Hi,
We are transiting organization exchange 2003 sp2 to exchange 2010.
The users open a windows session on the domaineA.rootA.local and they use another account for the email domainB.rootB.local. we are not in the forest resource scenario. the accounts on the forest which contains mailbox are also used to log on others servers and applications.
When moving the mailbox from exchange 2k3 to exchange 2k10, all is ok except for OOF and Busy/Free information on outlook for some computers.
1- Exchange 2k3 users see the Busy/Free information Exchange 2k10 users
2- Exchange 2k10 users see the busy/free Exhange 2k10 users (when i disabled the proxy ie setting then it works).
3- Exchange 2k10 users see the busy/free Exhange 2k3 users (when i disabled the proxy ie setting then it works).
4- OOF doesn't work "server unavailable" and the IIs logs shows that outlook send a request with the wrong account (domaineA.rootA.local) rather than domainB.rootB.local
Exemple:
2013-12-04 10:10:32 10.251.0.246 POST /ews/exchange.asmx - 443 - 10.1.34.138 Microsoft+Office/14.0+(Windows+NT+6.1;+Microsoft+Outlook+14.0.6129;+Pro) 401 0 0 15

2013-12-04 10:10:32 10.251.0.246 POST /ews/exchange.asmx - 443 domaineA\user1 10.1.34.138 Microsoft+Office/14.0+(Windows+NT+6.1;+Microsoft+Outlook+14.0.6129;+Pro) 500 0 0 15.
The test of autodiscovery works fine, certificat is approuved, the urls are OK, the exclusions in ie proxy is ok.
I follow the http://www.proexchange.be/blogs/exchange2007/archive/2009/07/14/your-out-of-office-settings-cannot-be-displayed-because-the-server-is-currently-unavailable-try-again-later.aspx
I have no problem with webmail. Office standard 2010 32 bits. I tried to disable Windows Authentification for EWS and AUTODISCOVER, it still the same problem.
Then, when i force outlook setting to ask credentials. the user when he starts outlook an authentification windows appears asking credentials, then the oof, busy free information works well. and IIS server logs show that outlook send a request with the correct account domainB.rootB.local.
could you please help me to understand and fix this ?
Thanks

Unable to upgrade EmailAddressPolicy
Hi,
while migrating a Exchange 2003 to 2010 I tried upgrading the Default Email Address Policy with
Set-EmailAddressPolicy "Default Policy" -IncludedRecipients AllRecipients
But this fails with 7157D1AB,Microsoft.Exchange.Management.SystemConfigurationTasks.SetEmailAddressPolicy
The Default Policy has Version 0.0 (6.5.6500.0).
Any hints on how I can upgrade the Default Policy to the new version?

Tom
Can you import an .OST file
Cached files are local in our hosted environment. I want to migrate mailboxes to a new internal server by importing the .ost files. But that does not work with the GUI import in Outlook 2003 client. Says this is not a .pst file. Tough luck.
Any reason to think that exmerge or something else would be able to import the .ost file.
Saves me time from creating backup .pst files.
thanks

Error migrating mailboxes to Exchange 2007
Hi,
I need to do a cross-org mailbox migration from a single forest to another single forest.
The prerequisites for a 2000 domain for mailbox migration have been fulfilled.
The setup is pretty basic, one exchange server in each forest. Exchange 2007 is running on 2003 R2 SP2 whilst the Exchange 2000 is running on 2000 SP4; these are both member servers.
When I execute the following command in the powershell on the Exchange 2007 server
Move-Mailbox -TargetDatabase "exchange2007\mailbox database" -Identity "name of mailbox" -SourceForestGlobalCatalog sourcedc.source.org -GlobalCatalog targetdc.target.org -NTAccountOU "OU=accounts,DC=target,DC=org" -SourceForestCredential $s -TargetForestCredential $t
I receive the depicted error below
Move-Mailbox : Error was found for "mailbox name" because: Error occurred in the step: Opening source mailbox. Failed to open mailbox with error: ClassFactory cannot supply requested class, error code: -1056749262
I am stuck at this point so help would greatly be appreciated, thank You
migration mapi failures
We're doing a migration from Exchange 2003 sp2 org to a new Exchange 2010 org using Quests migration tool. We are running into random mapi logon error on mailboxes being moved. It doesnt seem to be permissions because we can logon to problem mailboxes using mfcmapi and the mailbox eventually does move. We have adjusted the throttling polices on exchange 2010 according to quests documentation and are still randomly getting errors. I found this error in the RCA Protocol Logs on exchange 2010 that seems to coincide with the mapi failures and was wondering if anyone had any idea what it means
RopHandler: Logon: Could not create folder Conversation Action Settings. -> MapiExceptionSearchEvaluationInProgress: Unable to create folder. (hr=0x80004005, ec=1177)

Generic Groupwise to Exchange Migration Advice
Good afternoon folks, I am after some general advice/guideance on a migration project that I am about to start working on.
We're taking a Novell eDirector/Groupwise environment to Microsoft AD/Exchange...I know there's tools/utils that will do the migration but I am just after some general real world experiences/gotcha's etc.
The AD will be a nice new Win2008 R2 AD so first question is, what order should I approach this in..
- Build new AD
- Install Exchange
- Migrate User Accounts/Data
- Migrate Groupwise to Exchange
or
- Build new AD
- Install Exchange
- Migrate Groupwise to Exchange
- Migrate User Accouts/Data
To me the first looks more logical but I'm looking for advice from the trenches so to speak....
Also, what utils/tools would you recommend for the migration and co-existence?
outlook anywhere can RPC from external but cannot authenticate with AD
HI all,
Recently, I have this weird problem surfacing and it has been bugging me ever since. Let me start of of our current setup: we have 2 CAS/HUB running on NLB and 2 MB on CCR. All 4 are installed with E2007 Sp2. We have users accessing their mailbox internally and externally. We used self-signed certificate for all users so that they can use Outlook when they are not in the office. All was working fine for a few years when one day, one user bought a new notebook for us to configure. Following the procedure like we had done numerous times, then, it prompt Outlook has to be online errorwhile using the external network. After checking all the Outlook over RPC settings and everything, all are configured as according to the plan and nothing has been changed. Internal network (ie using the company network ) all is ok.
Firewall has not been meddled with so I am not too sure it could be the problem. ( because other external users on their existing system are ok ).
Can anyone kindly advice?
Thanks
Eric
Exchange 2003 to 2010 migration mailflow issue
Hello,
I have a server 2003 w/ exchange 2003 that we are upgrading to 2010 to support Outlook 2013.
So we installed a windows 2008 server and exchange 2010. We followed a guide to help with the different steps and didn't have problem or error until now.
So what we have right now, is exchange 2003 with still ALL mailboxes.
Replications of folders is done.
Policies are updated.
The firewall is forwarding port 25 to the new exchange 2010 server:
Emails are coming in fine.
Internal emails are also perfectly fine (from internal user to internal users).
the only thing that is giving us trouble is the emails coming out. None of them are going out and they are getting "stuck" in the "routing group connector" on the 2003 machine.
The 2010 exchange has a simple send connector set SMTP/* with this server as source. The 2003 exchange only had the exch2003-exch2010 connector.
Because emails were kind of accumulating (80+) I decided to take the send connector on the 2010 exchange out. and added back a send connector on the 2003 exchange. This kind of "fixed" it as now all emails are going just fine. It also fixed the queue as part of it got liberated when I added the 2003 send connector.
I still have 25 emails stuck in this "routing group connector" that I'd like to take care of.
We are obviously not done with the migration and this coexistence phase as actual mailboxes still need to be moved.
So I'd like to take care of this queue in the routing group connector as well as continue the process of being able to receive and send from the 2010 machine only. then I would continue the migration process.
FYI, the 2003-2010 connector was created using power shell on the 2010 machine. I am not using any smarthost.
and the error message (in the queue) I get is: "unable to bind to the destination server in DNS"
FYI, my 2003 server is called "SERVER1" and the 2010 server is "SERVER2", they're on the same local domain company.local.
FYI (not sure if that's relevant), the server1 exchange has a different certificate (different domain name) than the new server (server2) as our web host finally allowed us to use subdomains. not trying to confuse anyone but I am really stuck there and maybe this is related: certificate for the exchange 2003 machine: www.company-mail.com (only 1) and certificates for the exchange 2010 are: mail.company.com / autodiscover.company.com (and a legacy.company.com we may not need since the actual coexistence phase will/should be short).
any idea what's wrong here?
Expiration of "Subscription license of Microsoft Forefront Protection for Exchange Server"
We have "Microsoft Forefront Protection for Exchange Server" running in the company. Now I face the expiration of "Subscription license of Microsoft Forefront Protection for Exchange Server". I learned from http://blogs.technet.com/b/server-cloud/archive/2012/09/12/important-changes-to-forefront-product-roadmaps.aspx that "... products will continue to be supported through that date (12/31/2015) in order to provide with customers sufficient time to move to alternative solutions". My concern is, that Microsoft Forefront Protection for Exchange Server does not know about that grace period. It claims:
Your Subscription license of Microsoft Forefront Protection for Exchange Server has expired. The product will continue to operate during the extended grace period until 5/1/2013. Subsequently, scanner updates will be disabled and the product will operate with reduced functionality.
Is there a way to get a new license number? I called our software vendor, but Microsoft does not sell licenses anymore.
Thank you for your assistance.

export notes to outlook
Email movement is currently extremely basic and numerous individuals are looking to move from Lotus Notes to MS Outlook email stage. Yet, because of conflict between both messages document forms (NSF of Lotus notes and PST of MS Outlook), they neglect to do it physically. MS Outlook is basically favored over Lotus Notes. Clients working with Lotus Notes need to move their email customer from Lotus notes to MS Outlook.
For this, change of Lotus notes NSF to Outlook PST arrangement is required. On the off chance that you are looking to perform this undertaking physically then it may be dreary and troublesome as it needs profound learning. Moreover, relocation of vast measured Lotus Notes .NSF document to MS Outlook .PST record includes bunches of issues and blunder messages.
nsf to PST Converter is the best utility move client letter boxes from Lotus Domino Server to MS Exchange Server. Be that as it may, here and there this utility doesn't give amend free NSF to PST email movement comes about and fizzles when you move a huge
estimated NSF record. Lotus Notes to Outlook helps forms 6.0, 6.5, 7.0, 8.0, and 8.5 of Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino Server. It additionally upholds all renditions of MS Outlook and MS Exchange server.

Need Help with migration to New server of Exchange 2010
Hello Everyone,
I am new to the forums so hopefully I get this right. I just took over a small County Government and the contractor that they had installed Active Directory and Exchange on the same server. From the server forum everyone is suggesting that I build a new server and migrate Exchange to that server instead of changing the domain controller. I am looking for any link, documents, or assistance that will help me get through this. Currently we only have about 50 mailboxes and a lot of OWA users. Just want to make sure that I get this right.
Also, once I get Exchange moved to the new server and make sure everything is good will I be able to remove it from the AD server without any issues and finally have them separated.
Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can provide.
