Good afternoon folks, I am after some general advice/guideance on a migration project that I am about to start working on.
We're taking a Novell eDirector/Groupwise environment to Microsoft AD/Exchange...I know there's tools/utils that will do the migration but I am just after some general real world experiences/gotcha's etc.
The AD will be a nice new Win2008 R2 AD so first question is, what order should I approach this in..
or
To me the first looks more logical but I'm looking for advice from the trenches so to speak....
Also, what utils/tools would you recommend for the migration and co-existence?
Am getting the following error when trying to install Exchange 2007 management tools on a windows 8.1 workstation:

This is a vanilla install of exchange 2007 so have no idea whats throwing this error!
Anyone suggest anything?
Thanks!
Hello All,
I hope to get some good pointers here. I currently have Exchange server 2007 SP1 running today. The server is old and the warranty just expired. I have been given permission to buy a new server and migrate to it. I have the new server up and running with Exchange 07 SP1 installed. I am looking for the best way to migrate and move users from one server, to the new one and decommission the old one. The storage is Are there any special steps I need to take? Do I need to do any ADPrep to tell AD to use the new server? I've tried looking for a guide or a how-to but all I have found are vague and brief ways to install Exchange server, but not to migrate from one server to a new one. These are two separate physical servers btw.
edit - I forgot to mention that the exchange store is on a SAN via iSCSI
Thank you,
David

We are currently migrating from exchange 2003 to Office 365. We are configured Hybrid so we also have exchange 2010. After the migration is complete I would like to upgrade our active directory functional level so I will need to isolate the exchange 2003 servers and keep them in the event I am asked to do a tape restore (we currently have no data retention policy). I would also like to keep a couple of the exchange 2010 servers in place. With all of that said knowing that the exchange 2010 servers get some of their information from the exchange 2003 servers what would be the best way to accomplish this?
Hello,
At my company we're running into the following problem. We are trying to setup an MS FS for Exchange 2010 based on 2 separate Windows Domains (-> organization relationship). The external (DNS) domains are within each others namespace domain 1) example.com& 2) fr.example.com. An external DNS lookup gives us the correct (txt for the FD's), but the MS domain-proof gives us an inconstant result. The two domains (sites) have no other link (or form of trust) between them, and are separate forests. The internet domain names however come form one and the same DNS server running the TLD.
Hope you can help,
Paul
I have an EVO Wingle (Personal USB Internet Connection) device, when I try to visit the URLhttps://mail.Company.com/owa it takes me to the OWA page as shown in the below snapshot:
When I try to login through the credential of the user whose Mailbox has been hosted on (Exchange Online) Office 365, I got the below error instead of getting office 365 redirection link page.
Error Code: 403 Forbidden The Server Denied the Specified Uniform Resource Locator (URL). Contact the Server Administrator. (12202)
The same thing is working fine when I try to connect from inside Company network.

Hello all,
The basics of this is that I had an exchange 2007 server install that went wrong and now there is an additional exchange server in ADSI edit. I have brought in a completely new server and gave it the same name. When I go to install exchange 2010 server, I get an error message. ""Some Controls aren't valid. The exchange server is in an inconsistent state. Only disaster recovery mode is available. Please use Setup/M:RecoverServer to recover this exchange server."" I don't want to do a recovery since I am going on clean install on a newer version of Exchange. I have been told I can delete the server from ADSI edit, but I am unable to even logging in as the domain admin with exchange admin rights and schema rights. If I right-click the server, there is no option at all for delete or remove. Am I stuck with changing the server name, or is there a way to get rid of the fubar install server and use the same name?
Thanks,
David
Hello experts,
I need to remove Exchange 2003 from an old physical server I have taken over in order to gracefully demote it.
I've already removed Exchange 2003 in the past, so I already know that during the uninstall I will need to provide the location where the original Microsoft Exchange setup files may be found or the original Microsoft Exchange 2003 disc 1.
Like I said, I have taken over the old physical server I need to remove Exchange 2003 from and unfortunately I can't find neither the location where the original Microsoft Exchange setup files may be found (the original installation path indicated in the Exchange Server Setup Progress.log installation log file is no longer there) nor the original Microsoft Exchange 2003 disc 1.
Software version currently installed is Microsoft Exchange 2003 SP2, but unfortunately I don’t know what
software version was originally installed.
I gathered a bunch of lines stating "Starting Exchange 6944 setup" and "Starting Exchange 7638 setup" in the Exchange Server Setup Progress.log installation log file:

Which Microsoft Exchange 2003 disc would you recommend in order to remove it ?
Any help/information will be greatly appreciated.

Massimiliano
As a large organisation we're going from Lotus notes to MS Outlook 2010. I'm looking for something that shows the differences between the two applications functions, like for example where to find print, send email, etc.. in both applications.
Thanks
I've been working for awhile on an issue that I'm having trouble figuring out. It's pesky and seems as if it should be an easy fix, and it's causing me a lot of problems.
Basically, I'm trying to migrate all internal URLs for WebServices, OAB, ActiveSync, etc to match the URL of the certificate we have. I've followed a number of guides, and feel confident that the changes are taking, as I'm able to verify them, but when I run:
test-outlookwebservices {e-mail address} | fl
I'm continuing to get a 1104 error with this message: The certificate for the URL https://intexch2010.richey.local/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml is incorrect. For SSL to work, the certificate needs to have a subject of intexch2010.richey.local, instead the subject found is mail.richeyco.com. Consider correcting service discovery, or installing a correct SSL certificate.
It seems clear that autodiscover is still pointing to the internal address, though I find no reference to this:
Get-ClientAccessServer -Identity IntExch2010 | select AutodiscoverServiceInternalUri | fl
AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri : https://mail.richeyco.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
I've right clicked the IIS Application Pools "MSExchangeAutodiscoverAppPool" and recycled it. I've restarted the server a few times, it just doesn't seem to work.

I have a new Exchange 2010 server and an Exchange 2003 server. When I browser to https://exchange2010server/exchange I do not get redirected to https://exchange2010server/owa. Instead, I get the default .NET "Server Error in '/' Application... Runtime error... please create a <customErrors> tag...."
In IIS, httpredirect is no enabled for the legacy virtual folders Exchange, Exchweb and Pub. If I try to enable it for these directories, it also get's enabled for the OWA directory/application causing a loop for my site.
I have recreated the legacy Exchange Virtual Directories using appcmd but the httpredirect still does not get enabled.
Does anyone know how I can reenable the httpredirect on the legacy Exchange Virtual Directories without affecting my OWA directory? I can see from other Exchange servers that it should be set to /owa but I can't make this change without affecting my OWA directory.
Thank you.

We are planned to install Exchange 2010 servers(MAIL,HUB and CAS) server in new Active director site in existing exchange organization.
Kindly share best practice link for exchange server installation in new site.
I'm trying to install SP3 on an Exchange 2010 SP2 server (Windows 2008 with SP2). During the Readiness Checks the Client Access Role Prerequisites fails with the error 'Rpc Over HTTP Proxy' component is required.
The problem is that when I look under Features, the "Rpc over HTTP Proxy" is installed. I have removed and re-installed it but the SP3 Installation Readiness Check still thinks that it is missing.
Does anyone have any ideas about how to fix this?

How do I get public folder list which are inactive from last 90 days in exchange 2010? Is there any script\shell command to get the same?
Dear Experts,
We are currently testing a migration of SBS 2011 (with Exchange 2010 SP3) to a new 2012R2 with Exchange 2010 installed. All FSMO roles have been transferred to the new 2012R2 - we just need to migrate Exchange now. How is this best done?
Thanks for your feedback.
