550 Administrative prohibition
When we send to a particular distribution list, we do not get an NDR and none of the recipients get the message. Below is the message flow that ends in "550 Administrative prohibition". The odd thing here is there is no sender "MAIL FROM:<>" is blank. I've contacted the admin of the other domain to see if he sees anything on his end or whether he can let these through.

Generic Groupwise to Exchange Migration Advice
Good afternoon folks, I am after some general advice/guideance on a migration project that I am about to start working on.
We're taking a Novell eDirector/Groupwise environment to Microsoft AD/Exchange...I know there's tools/utils that will do the migration but I am just after some general real world experiences/gotcha's etc.
The AD will be a nice new Win2008 R2 AD so first question is, what order should I approach this in..
- Build new AD
- Install Exchange
- Migrate User Accounts/Data
- Migrate Groupwise to Exchange
or
- Build new AD
- Install Exchange
- Migrate Groupwise to Exchange
- Migrate User Accouts/Data
To me the first looks more logical but I'm looking for advice from the trenches so to speak....
Also, what utils/tools would you recommend for the migration and co-existence?
Reccomendations: Lotus Notes Mail Server Data - Convert to PST
Need some recommendations for export to PST of Notes mail data and local archives > PST.
I'm aware of the Quest offerings and have used QNME in previous migrations, however this particular migration warrants the export of all Source data to PST only - without any coexistence etc.
IF anyone can reccomend offerings outside of Quest i'd like to hear experiences.
TIA.

I have an EVO Wingle (Personal USB Internet Connection) device, when I try to visit the URLhttps://mail.Company.com/owa it takes me to the OWA page as shown in the below snapshot:
When I try to login through the credential of the user whose Mailbox has been hosted on (Exchange Online) Office 365, I got the below error instead of getting office 365 redirection link page.

Q. Moving Exchange CAS-HUB virtual machine to Physical Server
All Folks,
I am having Two virtual machine on Hypervisor which having CAS-HUB roles now I want to replace these virtual machines to Physical server.
Here I have to use same physical server to replace VM which having CAS-HUB virtual machine.
both CAS-HUB machine exist entries in Exchange Certificates, sharing plan below for VM to physical migration.
IF one cas-hub role will remove then it should not impact subscription with another cas-hub server.
Need your consultant and instructions to improve plan of action and avoid any issue in migration activity.
CAS-HUB Virtual Machine migration to same base physical Server |
Take VM backup for CAS-HUB01 |
Change NATTING to CAS-HUB02 (Optional) |
Export CAS-HUB01 Server on alternate server on temp basis |
Remove host CAS-HUB01 from NLB |
Remove/Uninstall CAS-HUB01 role |
Configure Disk for Operation System and Exchange binaries |
Install Windows server 2008 R2 Stnd on same Physical Server |
Install Exchange CAS-HUB binaries on server with same name and IP |
Configure CAS-HUB server configuration as per existing environment |
Configure receive connector |
Create & configure new Send connector |
Import latest certificate |
Edge subscription with New CAS-HUB(Physical) Server |
configure connection point for client connectivity on New CAS-HUB |
Test mailflow |
Same process will follow for second CAS-HUB02 server |
Prepare another CAS-HUB server on physical environment |
Configure NLB between both CAS-HUB servers |
Configure connection point for client connectivity on NLB virtual IP |
Awaiting swift response to make this activity better.

EXchange 2010 & 2013 Co-existence
Hi,
I have Exchange 2010 Running currently in 3 Sites. Now I have to introduce Exchange 2013 CU6 on 4th Site (Same Exchange ORg) and migrate all E2k10 Mailboxes to E2k13.
My Questions is ... What would be the Internal Hostname that I need to mentioned in E2k10 server in Out Look Anywhere ?
Note: I am using Existing OWA & Autodiscover URL which is running for E2k10 server mai.abc.com & Autodiscover.abc.com .
On E2k13 I have set External & Internal URL for Outlook anywhere is mail.abc.com .
I am using E2k10 certificate on E2k13 server as it having same DNS name space mentioned.

Behaviour of Microsoft Transporter Suite (Notes migration to Exchange 2007)
Dear Sir,
I have a question about configuraiton of Microsoft transporter, not sure whether it is a behaviour or it can be fixed.
Question 1:
Lotus Notes 7.04 --> Exchange 2007
Microsft Transport: Scheduler set to every 15 min.
Q1. Does it mean that Notes sync to AD User account setting only in every 15 min only ?
Q2. It seems that it will not sync Notes email mailbox message with Exchange mailbox until manual press
'Migrate selected mailbox', may I confirm that is it a design behaviour.
Q3. After created free/busy connector (Every 60 minutes of sync), it seems that it will not sync
user calendar until manual pressed 'Synchronize Now'.
Q4. Can Mirocosft transport suit support workstation NSF file to PST file ?
Q5. In notes environment, ACL will be used to configure boss/secretary condition which allow send as permission.
Does it mean that all permission will be reconfigured manually? Or any Microsoft tools to work on it.
Regards,
Joe
Autodiscover Configuration Exchange 2007
I am migrating from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007. I am having an issue with my autodiscover.xml. The file is there and can be accessed, but there is nothing populating the file (it is just a place holder file). I have looked around to find out if the file should autofill with the correct info (and it appears it should), but my file has none of the settings in it. I ran the commands below and the information appears to be correct.
get-OwaVirtualDirectory | fl
get-webservicesVirtualDirectory | fl
get-OABVirtualDirectory | fl
get-ActiveSyncVirtualDirectory | fl
Should the autodiscover.xml file populate itself with the correct information? If not, is there a template to follow to fill out the information that should be there?
Thanks,
Kevin
Converting Legacy Mailbox to User Mailbox (Error: Couldn't find default Administrative Group)
Hi all,
I would like to convert a Legacy Mailbox to a User Mailbox. This Legacy Mailbox is located inside a Storage group within a Member Server with Exchange 2003 installed (From now referred to as EX3).
EX3 Does not have Powershell installed.
A Member Server with Exchange 2007 installed, from now on will be referred to as EX7. EX7 has Powershell 1.0 installed
The following are the hardware configurations:
EX3: Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition SP2
EX7: Windows Server 2003 Standard x64 Edition SP2
Member Servers do not have Internet connection. (So e.g. installing Powershell on EX3 from the web is not an option).
The Parameter for -Id (Identity) will be left as <MailboxAlias>. In my envoriment an existing Mailbox Alias is used.
The Problem:
I've ran the following on Powershell as Admin in EX7 to convert the afore mentioned Legacy Mailbox to a User Mailbox:
Set-Mailbox -ID <MailboxAlias> -ApplyMandatoryProperties
The following error is returned:
Set-Mailbox : Could not find the default Administrative Group 'Exchange Administrative Group <FYDIBOHF23SPDLT>'.
At Line:1 Char:12
+ Set-Mailbox <<<< -Id <MailboxAlias> -ApplyMandatoryProperties
I'm not sure how to go on from here. This single Mailbox is causing many issues on other provisioning programs.
Please help, and thaks a lot in advance.

Decommissioned Server still showing up in ADSI
Hi - Following up on some errors I found in Event Viewer, error Event ID 2937, I found that a server that was decommissioned awhile ago still has some hooks showing up. Using ADSI, I found that the server name is appearing in Configuration CN=Services - CN=Microsoft Exchange - CN=Domain Name - CN=Administrative Groups - CN=First administrative group - CN=Servers.
I also found that there are 2 entries under CN=Connections that point to that server as well for SMTP.
This server was decommissioned over 2 years ago and other then errors in Event Viewer, email works with no issues. Is it ok to delete these objects?
Upgrade to Exchange 2007 SP3 from SP2
I seem to be in the same boat as many people but cannot get past this issue. While trying to upgrade and Exchange 2007 SP2 to SP3 so that I can migrate to SBS2011 I get the following error...
[12/28/2014 9:29:42 PM] [1] [ERROR] Unable to remove product with code 24b2c164-de66-44fe-b468-a46d9d5e6b31. This update package could not be opened. Verify that the update package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify
that this is a valid Windows Installer update package. Error code is 1635.

I'm assuming someone has removed files from the Installer folder but I'm not sure what to copy back to this location so that the setup can complete. Also this installation is on rollup 5 of SP2.
Thanks.

Migrating from FirstClass to Exchange
This message is for the very few out there who will be migrating from FirstClass server to Exchange.
I created a VB Script that will convert exported messages from FirstClass into a comma delimited file (CSV) that can be imported into Exchange.
FirstClass is not a full featured IMAP server, and thus you cannot migrate Sent emails or emails in folders using the Transporter Suite.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me: jdombrowski@tkschools.org
Enjoy,
John Dombrowski
I cannot attach a file, so here is the code:
'VB Script to convert Exported FirstClass emails to comma delimated files
'------------------
'Written by John Dombrowski - Thornapple Kellogg Schools - jdombrowski@tkschools.org
'------------------
'Instructions:
'1. Create a Folder on your desktop called 'emails'
'2. Save this file into that folder the folder
'3. Create two (2) files inside the emails folder:
' 1. convertedfinal.csv
' a. Open this file and add the following line: "From","Date","To","Subject","Body"
' 2. temp.txt (you can leave this file blank)
'4. Create a Folder inside the emails folder called 'Exported'
'5. Export your FirstClass Mailbox, Folders, or Individual Emails into the folder created in step 4
'6. Run the convertemails.vbs file
'7. If everything ran properly, the convertedfinal.csv file will contain all of the emails that you exported in a
' comma delimeted file that can then be imported into other email systems.

Exchange 2010 and 2013 "OWA and ActiveSync" co-existance 1 Public IP.
Hello Everyone.
I find myself in a bit of a dilemma and in a desperate need for some well educated help.
Scenario: Server 1 (Small Business Server 2011 Standard) with Exchange 2010
Server 2 (Server 2012 Standard) with Exchange 2013
1 Static Public IP Address
This used to be one domain that split into two separate entities that are still occupying the same office space.
All port forwarding is currently pointing to the SBS and everything there is working properly. I setup a new receive connector on the SBS that is forwarding the mail for domain 2 to the "Exchange 2013" server and mail flow in and out is working 100%.
The problem lies with OWA and ActiveSync.
I tried changing the SSL port in IIS on Server 2 from 443 to 1443 and forwarded those ports to server 2 from the router, then OWA works externally, but for some reason the clients on the local network can't connect anymore, so I had to drop that idea after being unable to find the cause.
The only other thing I can think to try, is to setup HTTP redirection on the SBS IIS or adding the mail.domain2.com in the SBS DNS or something.
I have searched for hours but can't find anything specific to my scenario. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
